A demonstration of the INTCATCH boats took place on the 1st of October 2019 in Dam of Thermi (Thessaloniki, Greece). The presentation was organized by Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP S.A.) and Intergeo Environmental Technology ltd that operates in the field of geoenvironmental studies and projects, specializing in the remediation of contaminated soils, groundwater and hazardous waste management.

INTCATCH ISA-Chla boat and HM boat covered more than 4 km and was tested by Intergeo personnel. The results visualized in real time and evaluated in cooperation with the scientific staff of the company. In parallel, four water samples collected with HM boat from selected station on behalf of Intergeo.

The results ‘discussions after the campaign reveal new needs for investigation. For example, spatial fluctuations in chlorophyll –a might reveal issues related eutrophication, and a trend that will lead to algae blooms. These situations that trigger further research lead to one of INTCATCH targets; periodical requests for catchments scanning and a repeated use situation of INTCATCH as a service.
