UNIVERSITAET FUER BODENKULTUR WIEN
BOKU - BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna is a teaching and research institution with focus on renewable resources and applied life sciences. An important feature of BOKU's research lies in its recognition of future problems and efforts to provide and stimulate practical relevance, internationality and interdisciplinarity. The high level of international cooperation of BOKU academics is also reflected in the curricula offered: eleven international master’s programs, including three joint and eight double degree programs, which are offered partially or entirely in English, as well as three additional BOKU Master programs offered in English. A high proportion of foreign students in degree programs (including over a third from non- EU states) and a high level of student mobility provide evidence of this.
The Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control (staff around 30 people) is a member of the Department of Water-Atmosphere-Environment (staff around 150 people) of this University and one of the major Austrian research and educational organisations in the field of water quality management. Emphasising an integrated approach, research topics include a wide range of disciplines, e.g. sustainable water management, risk management in water supply and water technology, measurement and control, (on-line) water quality monitoring, aquatic chemistry/microbiology, modelling issues, as well as water and wastewater treatment technologies. Water quality monitoring and modelling is one of three big research areas at the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control at BOKU-University. The institute was/is involved in several national and international research projects in this area.
