NANOTECNOLOGIA ICN2 - The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is a private foundation with the objective of becoming a world-renowned centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology research. Its patrons are the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the Government of Catalonia (UAB) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It is part of CERCA, the network of Research Centres launched by the Catalan Government as a cornerstone of its long-term strategy to foster development of a knowledge-based economy. ICN2's research lines focus on the newly discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the fascinating behaviour of matter at the nanoscale.

The Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group (www.nanobiosensors.org) at ICN2 is focused on the discovery and technological development of cutting-edge nanotechnology towards diagnostics, food and safety and environmental applications. The group exploits phenomenons that occur at the nanoscale in order to generate simple and novel biosensing platforms. They hold a wide expertise in cells, pathogens, DNA, proteins and small molecules detection using both optical and electrochemical approaches. The Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors group has participated in 5 European projects, 9 national projects, 1 project funded by international programs and 1 project funded by foundation programs.
