The urban wastewater in the Lake Garda basin is collected in a combined sewer system which is connected to the centralized wastewater treatment plant of Peschiera del Garda. Wastewater flows by gravity in the major part of the main pipelines, while several pumping stations are necessary along the sewers. The AGS sewers system includes even submerged lines and five combined sewers overflows that discharge for high peaks of flow during heavy-rainy days. One of them is “Villa Bagatta” CSO treatment and pumping station, where the INTCATCH integrated system will be installed, validated and managed with support of the INTCATCH DSS. The Villa Bagatta CSO treatment plant currently includes only fine screen. Within INTCATCH an integrated system of Rotating Belt Filter, Activated Carbon and UV Disinfection will be tested, evaluated and assessed within the full integrated INTCATCH strategy.
